Frank Turner (Conductor)
is a
noted educator, choral and instrumental conductor, arranger, and professional musician. He has been a member of the Southern California Mormon Choir since 1988, serving as the Associate Conductor.   He was sustained as Conductor of the choir on March 7, 2001.  His university training was undertaken at UCLA, CSULA, BYU and USC. As a performing musician, he was principal trumpet with the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra and lead trumpet with the Intermountain Network Jingle Co. and Music Ads, Inc. In his early career as an educator, he taught in elementary, junior high and high schools in Idaho and Oregon.  He was appointed Lecturer in Music at the College of Idaho in 1965 and Assistant Professor of Music at Santa Monica College in 1966.  Between 1964 and 1974, the high school and college bands under his direction performed in the Pasadena Rose Parade, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, El Carnival in Mazatlan and on numerous nationally televised half-time shows for the Los Angeles Rams, the San Diego Chargers and the San Francisco 49ers. He founded the United States Honor Band and Choir in the early 1970s.  With this organization as well as with the performing groups associated with "America's Youth in Concert", he has traveled extensively in Europe.  

A professor of music at Santa Monica College for thirty-five years, Frank has been presented with the Outstanding Educator's Award by the Santa Monica Jaycees and a Special Achievement Award by the mayor of Santa Monica.  He has served as chairman of the Music Department and currently teaches music history, appreciation, musicianship, musical theater workshop and production.   He has done the vocal and instrumental music direction for over fifty musical theater and opera productions. In 1997, his SMC production of "Once On This Island" was selected in national competition by the American Theatre Festival in association with the Kennedy Foundation to perform at the Kennedy Fine Arts Center in Washington D.C. 

In recent years, Frank's musical interests have expanded to include choral arranging. His SATB arrangement of "I Believe in Christ" has been performed in stake and regional conferences all over the United States and in General Conference.

Frank and his wife, Karma, have eight children, the youngest of which is a student at BYU, and nine grandchildren.

Carol Cole Psy.D. (Accompanist) holds a Bachelor of Arts in piano and Master of Arts in Piano Accompanying, having studied with Gwendolyn Koldofsky through the University of Southern California.   Carol has taught elementary and junior high school choruses, general music, music history, and guitar in public school.   She has recorded a total of four albums, three of them, original compositions.      The first three, Footsteps in the Sand, Keys to the Kingdom, and Discovery have received domestic and international exposure along with television, radio, and airline in-flight programs.     The fourth is a Christmas album, entitled A Magical Christmas and features two original choral compositions along with arrangements of several familiar Christmas Carols.    Carol is also a Doctor of Psychology and licensed Marriage and Family therapist with a private practice in Fountain Valley.    She is a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist, a technique widely used for healing trauma.     She works with individuals, couples, teenagers, and families dealing with depression,  anxiety, bipolar disorder, communication problems, divorce prevention and recovery, co-dependency, eating disorders, parenting skills, chemical dependency, and the setting and maintain of healthy boundaries.
